- Spring Vale Vineyards: Located just north of Swansea, this small family winery produces exceptional Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sparkling. Tastings are held inside a unique, historic convict-built stable dating back to 1842.
- Craigie Knowe Vineyard: As the oldest vineyard on Tasmania's East Coast, this is a beautiful spot to settle in for a tasting. Enjoy a glass of wine paired with a gourmet vineyard plate featuring Pyengana cheeses and Coal River Farm chocolates.
- Gala Estate: A seventh-generation, 4,000-hectare working sheep station that is also home to a celebrated boutique vineyard. Visited via a quirky green weatherboard cottage in Cranbrook, it offers an award-winning cellar door experience and custom picnic hampers to go.
- Milton Vineyard: Visited via a beautiful, modern cellar door hosted by Michael and Kerry Dunbabin. The estate's micro-climate features north-facing slopes and stony terroir that produce award-winning wines with wonderful flavour, which you can enjoy while overlooking a central lake.
- Kelvedon Estate: Open strictly by appointment only, Kelvedon is one of Tasmania’s oldest historic farming properties. The boutique vineyard overlooks a spectacular stretch of coastline and is beautifully surrounded by working sheep pastures and crops.
A Scenic Drive South (Towards Little Swanport)
- Mayfield Estate: Located just 10 minutes south of Swansea, this family-owned working farm produces superfine Merino wool alongside boutique, small-batch wines. Its modern cellar door offers sweeping, elevated views directly across Great Oyster Bay to the Freycinet Peninsula.
- Boomer Creek Vineyard: Located a short drive south in Little Swanport, this third-generation family farm features a striking, architecturally designed cellar door. Sample premium estate-grown Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir paired with generous local platters and panoramic ocean views.
A Scenic Drive North (Towards Freycinet)
- Devil’s Corner: Boasts an iconic, architecturally striking cellar door that overlooks the spectacular scenery of Moulting Lagoon and the Freycinet Peninsula. Sip an award-winning glass of wine while enjoying fresh East Coast seafood or wood-fired pizzas.
- Freycinet Vineyard: Located 7 kilometres south of the Coles Bay turn-off and established in 1980, this family-owned, 15-hectare vineyard is nationally recognised for its 5-star award-winning wines. Beyond hand-crafted wines, you can sample their estate-grown Extra Virgin Olive Oil and local cheeses.
